At Nova Praxis Counseling and Consulting, we provide counseling, supervision, consultation, and training designed to support growth - in life, work, and relationships. Whether you're facing a personal transition, developing your clinical practice, supporting your team, or simply looking to reconnect with what matters most, our services are here to meet you where you are.
We partner with individuals and professionals to foster intention, authenticity, and resilience. Our approach evolves with you - offering consistent, values-driven support as your needs and goals shift over time.

Bridging your current and most authentic self with reflection, resilience, and respect.
Counseling is a collaborative space to connect more deeply with yourself and others, to reflect on the paths you’ve taken, and to explore the ones that lie ahead. We offer support for identity development, relationship concerns, emotional overwhelm, burnout, and other life stressors that may be impacting your sense of clarity or well-being. With deep respect for and celebration of the lived experiences that shape each person’s journey, we affirm the resilience, insight, and strength carried by LGBTQIA+ individuals and others whose identities have informed how they move through the world.
Drawing from narrative, feminist, existential, and systems-based theories, counseling is tailored to help you understand the chapters of your life written up to this point—and to construct the bridge toward the ones yet to be written. This process honors your story while supporting movement toward your most authentic and empowered self.
Bridging your voice, your vision, and your values to support authentic, sustainable growth.
Supervision and consultation are spaces to grow your clinical voice, deepen your professional identity, and engage your work with intention. Whether you’re an associate-level clinician working toward licensure or a seasoned practitioner seeking reflection and renewal, this is a space to think critically and compassionately about your practice.
With a foundation in narrative, constructivist, and relational models of supervision, we explore the intersections of ethics, culture, identity, and lived experience. Together, we honor the path you’ve taken as a clinician—and support you in writing the next chapter of your work with clarity, purpose, and integrity.
Bridging insight, reflection, and real-world practice through experiential, collaborative learning.
Learning is most impactful when it is participatory, relational, and grounded in lived experience. Our training and continuing education offerings are intentionally designed to invite reflection, spark dialogue, and foster inclusive, ethical growth. Rather than delivering static content, we co-create learning spaces that value curiosity, context, and connection—bridging the gap between theory and practice, and between knowing and becoming.
Offerings include CE-eligible workshops, group supervision, and custom-designed trainings that focus on topics such as cultural humility, burnout, clinical supervision, and affirming care for LGBTQIA+ and other diverse communities. Whether in a classroom, consultation room, or training space, our approach is experiential, trauma-informed, and tailored to the evolving needs of professionals and organizations.
Bridging academic vision with inclusive, values-driven learning environments.
With over 17 years of experience in higher education—as an educator, program director, and academic leader—Dr. Viehl brings deep expertise in curriculum design, faculty development, and student support systems. His work spans undergraduate and graduate education, online and hybrid program development, accreditation alignment, and strategic leadership in student affairs and academic affairs alike.
Training and consultation in this area focus on creating learning ecosystems that are inclusive, outcomes-driven, and rooted in equity. Dr. Viehl partners with faculty, administrators, and instructional teams to co-design responsive curricula, implement meaningful assessment strategies, and foster reflective teaching practices that support both student success and institutional mission. This work bridges systems and stories—honoring the complexity of institutional change while staying grounded in the heart of education: people, purpose, and progress.
Bridging systems, values, and the people they’re meant to serve through strategic, values-aligned support.
Consultation is a collaborative process that supports individuals, teams, and organizations in building environments where ethical care, cultural inclusion, and reflective practice can flourish. Whether you're navigating change, developing programs, or reimagining how your systems function, we partner with you to explore what alignment looks like in action.
This work includes psychological safety strategies, organizational values audits, inclusive program development, and advising for leaders and educators seeking to ground their service in compassion, clarity, and connection.
Bridging leadership and humanity through empathy, equity, and emotional intelligence.
Relational leadership and conflict resolution require courage, reflection, and skill. We offer support and skills-building for teams, supervisors, and leaders navigating interpersonal challenges, power dynamics, and/or culture change.
Grounded in strengths-based frameworks and systems thinking, this work supports you in responding - not simply reacting to - the complexities of leading with integrity. Together, we explore how to foster leadership that builds bridges across difference and creates space for growth, accountability, and trust.
Bridging who you are with who you’re becoming—in practice and in purpose.
Creating or evolving a clinical or supervision practice is more than setting up a business – it is about shaping a space that reflects your values, strengths, and vision for the work. Whether you’re launching your practice, expanding your services, or realigning your structure with your identity, practice development consultation offers support that is both strategic and rooted in who you are.
Together, we explore systems, operations, service models, and values-informed decision-making to help you build a practice that is ethical, sustainable, and aligned with your long-term goals. This is a collaborative space to think creatively, plan intentionally, and bring your next professional chapter into focus—without losing sight of the heart behind your work.
Bridging story, scholarship, and lived experience to inspire meaningful change.
Speaking engagements through Nova Praxis offer more than information—they invite reflection, connection, and action. Presentations are grounded in years of clinical experience, leadership in counselor education, and a robust portfolio of national and regional presentations, workshops, and publications.

Whether presenting at professional conferences, universities, or organizational retreats, these keynotes center authenticity, equity, and storytelling as tools for transformation.
With over 17 years of professional experience and a deep commitment to reflective practice, each talk is tailored to the needs of the audience—bridging research, lived identity, and professional wisdom in ways that resonate, inspire, and create space for meaningful change.
